Safari BBQ – balanced, mild BBQ sauce with a pinch of romance
Families’ favourite sauce goes well with table grills and tastes so delicious that you can enjoy it to the last drop.
Recipe suggestions: Fine table sauce with grilled beef, poultry or lamb. Delicious with sosaties. As a dip with vegetable sticks – and the vegetables taste twice as good! Also a delight in sandwiches for in between.
Ingredients: Water, sugar, vinegar, tomato paste, rapeseed oil, dried peaches, apricots, apricot puree, onion, salt, modified corn starch (E1442), turmeric, paprika oil, coriander, onion powder, cumin, mustard, garlic, fenugreek, cinnamon, celery, nutmeg, pepper, cayenne pepper, fennel, additives: Citric acid (E330), caramel (E150c), xanthan gum (E415), potassium sorbate (E202), sodium benzoate (E211), sulphur dioxide (E220)

“Just passed Lainsburg on the country road, signposted Moordernaars Karoo. There is a strange, a different kind of rapturous energy here. Our host, a cheerful little African tells us that for many years this desolate area has been a valued refuge for refugees. After what felt like an eternity or 1000 miles over hill and dale we arrived at his farmhouse – a cool haven of silence under an enormous pepper tree. Later he served us local sosaties with his famous Safari BBQ Sauce – a perfect barbecue under the clearest night sky, illuminated by endless stars. . . !“
